Kannada television and film actor
Thandav Ram was arrested after he allegedly fired at director Bharath
Navunda over a financial dispute stemming from their unfinished project titled
Devanampriya.
The firing occurred at the
residence of a producer near Subbanna Garden here around 6.30pm on
Monday.
Ram and Navunda met at an event two
years ago where the director expressed his interest in casting the actor for
his upcoming television serial named Devanampriya, according to
statements from both the accused and the complainant.
As they could not get any
producers, Ram loaned Navunda Rs 6 lakh to start the project. However, the
project could not be launched even after two years which angered Ram and he
began demanding the director to return his payment. As the financial dispute
between the actor and the director was becoming serious, a common
friend, who is also a producer, arranged a meeting between them at
his house near Subbanna Garden on Monday evening.
The argument between them turned
violent after Ram allegedly pulled out a licensed gun and threatened Navunda,
sources said. The actor fired a shot which fortunately missed Navunda and
struck a wall.
Director Navunda contacted Chandra
Layout police, who arrested Ram. A case of attempt to murder has been
registered.
Thandav Ram, also known as Thandaveshwar,
gained popularity for his roles in popular Kannada television serials such as
Jodi Hakki and Bhoomige Banda Bhagavantha. -Salar News
